FAQs

UTM links decoded before a broken tag splits your data

What does a UTM decoder do?
It reads the tags on a tracking link and tells you in plain English where the click came from, which campaign it belongs to and whether anything is mistagged.
Is the UTM decoder free?
Yes. It runs in your browser, so the links you paste are never sent to us or stored.
Which tags does it read?
The five UTM tags (source, medium, campaign, term and content), utm_id, and click IDs such as gclid, fbclid, msclkid and ttclid.
Why do mistagged links matter?
Analytics files the visit under the wrong source. Mixed case, spaces and unfilled template tags like {campaignid} split one campaign into several rows.
