Ghost mannequin photography

Ghost mannequin photography is a product photo style where the garment appears to be worn by an invisible body — the mannequin is digitally removed and the inside neck, sleeves, and seams are reconstructed.

Ghost mannequin is the catalog standard for apparel ecommerce because it shows fit and construction without the visual noise of a model. The customer sees how the garment hangs, the inside seam, and the neck label — exactly what they need to evaluate before buying.

Traditionally it requires a studio shoot on a clear mannequin, then heavy Photoshop work to erase the mannequin and reconstruct the hidden seams. Modern AI tools can produce the same output in seconds from a single mannequin photograph.

Ghost mannequin imagery is required or strongly preferred by most marketplaces including Amazon, Myntra, Meesho, and Nykaa. Brands that ship ghost mannequin imagery generally convert better than those shipping flat-lay or model-only imagery.
